Forward Outdoor offers lakefront rentals and self-guided river kayaking trips that are perfect for groups.

Choosing the Best Option for Your Group
If your group includes a wide range of ages or ability levels, our Forward Outdoor – Lakeshore location is often the best choice.
The protected harbor and variety of watercraft — including kayaks, hydro-bikes, paddleboards, and retro paddle boats — make it easy for everyone to participate at their own comfort level.
River trips are a great adventure, but they require paddling several miles, so they tend to work best for groups comfortable committing to a longer time on the water.
Option 1: Lakeshore
Our Forward Outdoor – Lakeshore location at Discovery World is perfect for relaxed group outings and social gatherings.
Groups can enjoy kayaks, paddleboards, hydro-bikes, and retro paddle boats while exploring Milwaukee’s beautiful lakefront harbor.
Group Discount
Groups of 6 or more people receive 10% off when booking together under one reservation or arriving together.
Nonprofit, Church & School Groups
We offer 20% off for organized groups from nonprofits, churches, and schools.
Nonprofit Fundraisers
Partner with us for a paddling fundraiser.
Participants pay the normal rental price and 25% of the revenue is donated back to your nonprofit organization.

Discovery World has a number of catering and indoor space rental options. Please visit the Discovery World Events page for details.
We are also within walking distance to many restaurants in Milwaukee’s famed Third Ward.
Option 2: River Kayaking
Self-Guided Milwaukee River Kayaking
Our river trips are a great option for groups looking for a longer outdoor adventure.
We provide the kayak, paddle, life jacket, and shuttle ride upstream, so your group simply floats back down the river to your parked car.
Group Discount
Groups of 4 or more people receive 10% off when booking together.
Group Size
Self-guided trips can easily accommodate groups of up to 14 people.
For groups of 15–24 people, or if your group would like a guide, please contact us for custom pricing.
Food & Gathering Options for river trips
If your group would like a place to gather before or after your river paddle, there are a great options along our Brown Deer river segment.
Badger Meter River Park Pavilion
A small covered pavilion is available at the end of the trip and can be used free of charge on a first-come basis.
Thiensville Village Park Pavilion
Groups looking for a larger gathering space can reserve the pavilion at Thiensville Village Park, located at the beginning of the Brown Deer segment.
Pavilion rentals typically start around $150.
Catering Recommendation
For easy, delicious, and affordable food service, we recommend Shully’s Catering, located just steps from Thiensville Village Park. They offer convenient online ordering, making group meals simple to coordinate.
